CES 2018: IIM Students Attended Tech World’s #1 Trade Show
Las Vegas held Consumer Electronics Show’s 2018 edition from January 9th to 12th. A group of digital communications and e-business students from IIM were on location. All week long, they immersed themselves in innovation and technology.
Ever since its creation in 1967, the Las Vegas CES stood out as a must-go-to event for innovation and digital. Many best-sellers premiered at the CES: DVD, HD television or Blu-Ray to name but a few. The event was thus unavoidable for Web and E-Business IIM students, always on the hunt for digital evolutions. Some of them had the chance to go overseas and experience the CES live, others followed the event from Paris with great attention.
Covering tech world’s biggest event
In order to get all students interested in the event, IIM academic staff made up a plan for everyone to learn from the CES.
Two professors, Julien Muller et Maelys Beulque, made the trip to Las Vegas, along with eleven third and fourth year students. They kept in touch all week long with the 120 students who stayed in Paris, sharing their discoveries on social networks, with a tailormade hashtag #CESIIM2018
Antoine Raybaud, Charles Stritch, Eliott de Vanssay, Jessy Mutamba, Martin Lotte, Rémi Hazdai, Robin Min Stawkowski, Thomas Pousse were ambassadors for third-year students. Fourth-year students counted on Céline Bitbol, Carlo Dagher and Olivier Frick to report on the latest innovations.
IIM’s special correspondants followed innovations of the following sectors: Innovations Awards, Startup, Health and Wellness, Smart Home, Smart City, Automotive, Augmented Reality & Virtual reality
Bringing CES to Paris
5430 miles away from Las Vegas, students and teachers in Paris did participate in the event, following the team on location and closely monitoring the news about the exhibitors and their innovations.
With Pascale Loiseau, digital innovation and business intelligence professor, Web and E-Business major students closely followed CES news on social networks. In groups, they picked an innovation and presented it to the class. Presentations included innovations by multinationals such as Nissan and their Brain to Vehicle project and Toyota and E-Palette, an autonomous vehicle for transportation and delivery. Startups were also picked by students: French company Dreaminzzz, offering the first hypnosis connected mask, MirraViz and its multiview screen or Netatmo and its Smart Home bot.
On the latest edition of CES, French Tech couldn’t be missed. With 350 companies, France ranked number two in number of exhibitors, right after the USA.
IIM will hold a conference on IIM in the weeks to come, CES attendees will of course share their views on the exhibition and on the not-to-be-missed innovations. The best Parisian students’ presentations will be selected and featured in the conference.
