Impulsion Nominated for a Game Award in Los Angeles
The dream goes on for Impulsion. After being awarded with the Best Student Game Ping Award, Rémi, Hugo and Maxime, its designers, are now off to the Game Awards in Los Angeles.
Nothing can stop them! The game Impulsion, designed by IIM students, a web and multimedia school located in Paris, will be under the spotlights in the USA, as it has been nominated in the Student Game category of the Game Awards. An equivalent of Oscars for videogaming, this ceremony rewards the year’s best video games. Next edition: December 7th, at the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater.
A brand new Student Game category
Six games are in competition to win this first ever Student Game award. IIM’s Impulsion faces five other schools from the whole world. Among them, Australia’s Swinburne University of Technology and Singapore’s DigiPen Institute of Technology. Two American games are competing, created by students from the University of Southern California and by students from the Interactive Entertainment Academy in Florida. The last competitor is a game created by students from UK based National Film and Television School.
With their platform game Impulsion, Rémi, Hugo et Maxime will represent France and its video game schools at the 2017 Game Awards.
Impulsion is one the only two French games nominated for a Game Award. The other one, Bury my love, is a mobile interactive game which has the player following a refugee woman. The famous French Studios Ubisoft are in competition, their Montreal and San Francisco branches leading the way with Assassin’s Creed : Origins, Rainbow six : Siège and Star Trek : Bridge Crew.
The jury features big names of the video game industry. The first Student Game Award will be awarded by Todd Howard (Bethesda Game), Illka Paananen (Supercell), Kim Swift (EA Motive), Vince Zampella (Respawn Entertainement) and last but not least Hideo Kojima, creator of the now world famous saga Metal Gear Solid. Knowing that one’s game was selected and played by these major professionals is a one of a kind experience for any video game fan.

Being nominated for a Game Award is a great opportunity for IIM students. These world-renowned awards is a priceless springboard for video game designers. The event will be broadcast live on December 17th on all streaming platforms, followed by millions of online viewers.
